Yes a hxs file is a Help 2 Compiled Help File. The problem remains how to view the newly created file.

Maybe this helps:
(How can I view HxC/HxS/HxT files?)

Unfortunately the post does not address the issue of how to view a hxs file created by Package This.

I assumed that the file format (.hxs) is the file format described in my previous posts? I don't think that PackageThis has an own HxS-file format ;-)

If the Standard Viewer does not work for .hxs files created by this application you may contact the author (it may be helpful to tell them what you have packaged (MSDN, TechnNet - or simply send them your .hxs file - maybe it is corrupted...- version of PackageThis you used etc.)

BTW, It seems that the CHM-Generation works better...

I've made a free HxS Viewer called H2Viewer -- http://helpware.net/mshelp2/h2viewer.htm

You can also use H2Reg and other utilities to register you help so it integrates with VS help. This takes more work though.
